Sponsor a Village and
Help more than 100 People each year!
for only $40/month

This year, give electricity to more than 100 villagers who lack electricity for only $40 per month

For 40 dollars per month, your monthly donation will give solar electricity to two families each month (10 people) that are living in rural Malawi who have never had access to electricity. Every month, we will give you the names, picture and village location of the households getting electricity with your donation.

After a year, you will have given the gift of electricity for more than 100 villagers!

If we can recruit between 20,000 and 40,000 subscribers over the next 2-3 years, we can have all of rural Malawi (the lowest income country in the world) solar electrified in 10-20 years.

Or if a smaller amount is better for you, you can help 30, or 60 people per year for $10 or $20 per month respectively.  Again, we will send you the picture, name and village of every household that gets electricity with your funds.  You can see some of the families receiving solar systems at kuyere.myshopify.com.

At the end of the year, we will send you a thank you video from the village that you gave electricity to: we think that seeing the more than 100 people that you made incredibly happy will lead you to keep giving solar electricity to hundreds of people in the years to come.  If you want to visit the village, just tell us, so that we can make sure they are ready to welcome you.

For the 80% of rural Africans without electricity, electricity access is an important first step to permanently and sustain-ably climbing out of poverty.

We estimate that our project is between 10 and 100 times more cost-effective at using donor dollars to reduce poverty compared to the typical "sponsor a child" program.  This is mainly because we have a laser focus on cost-effectiveness and impact in our work. Having a project CEO that works for free helps also.

According to studies, every year people give more than $3 billion dollars per year of charity to "sponsor a child" programs.  Approximately 10 million children in low-income developing countries are sponsored by such programs. This is corresponds to spending of about $300 per child per year.  But this is helping only 1% of the children who are in need.

When I learned this, I thought: wow for less than 1/10 of these funds it should be possible to solar electrify all of rural Africa.  So we started in Malawi, and we will see how much we can grow these efforts over the coming years.

There are approximately 1 billion children living in poverty globally. If we REALLY want to solve the global poverty problem, we need to be become much more cost-effective in in how we give to global poverty reduction programs and in how we implement poverty reduction programs. Otherwise 10 to 20 years from now, we still will not have reached most of the 1 billion children that really need our help.

To solve extreme poverty for everybody, we need to to be somewhere between 10 to 100 times more cost effective in our poverty reduction activities compared to what we is being done today!   In other words, we have to move far beyond the simple practice of sponsoring a child for $300/year.

Our social enterprise, Kuyere!, is committed to this long term struggle for better impact and better cost-effectiveness.  We are committed to accelerating solutions to global poverty by making poverty reduction much more cost-effective through the application of solar technology.

Please join us in this helping create this movement for cost-effective poverty reduction for rural Africa and the world.

Thank you for your time and attention.

Sincerely,

Robert Van Buskirk, Ph.D.
Kuyere! (Volunteer) CEO
